Dr. Hashim, a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon, is best known for his expertise in mitral valve repair. His areas of interest include aortic valve replacement, coronary artery bypass surgery, heart valve surgery, mitra clip for mitral regurgitation, surgery for hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, and others. At present, he serves as Chairman of Cardiac Surgery & Co-Physician in Chief at Hartford HealthCare Heart & Vascular Institute at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the doctor is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American Medical Association, the Yale Surgical Society, the New Haven Medical Association, and the Connecticut Medical Association. Additionally, he is board-certified in thoracic and cardiac surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. A 1975 graduate of Saint Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon, Dr. Hashim relocated to the United States to complete his residency in general surgery at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s in 1979.
