Dr. Hashim, a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon, is best known for his expertise in mitral valve repair. His areas of interest include aortic valve replacement, coronary artery bypass surgery, heart valve surgery, mitra clip for mitral regurgitation, surgery for hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, and others. At present, he serves as Chairman of Cardiac Surgery & Co-Physician in Chief at Hartford HealthCare Heart & Vascular Institute at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut. Prior to his current roles within Hartford Hospital, he served as the Director of Cardiac Valve Surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital for over a decade. While there, he performed New England’s first mitral valve repair in 1984. That same year, he performed the first heart transplant in Connecticut.
